IMPORT 1986-1987 Fender Japan ST-54 Stratocaster 2TS & new Hard Case

  

A good example of an early Japanese 50s reissue Stratocaster. Here's a good, authentically aged example of the 1954 Reissue Stratocaster in a two colour sunburst.

With it's one piece Maple neck, skunk stripe and 7.25 radius fretboard this is, as usual an excellent reissue stratocaster from Fender Japan. This one has Fender Japan alnico pickups & an authentic single ply 8 hole pickguard. This guitar an "F" serial number so was made in 1986/7 and is in a nice aged condition. Built at the Fujigen plant just a year after they finished building the JV series it's a good example of an older Japanese Fender. I managed to find this exact model featured in the 1988 Fender Japan catalogue.

This is always good as I can confirm woods, pickups, finish etc. As it's nearly 35 years old & classified as vintage, I haven't done very much to it as it's nice to retain the vintage vibe.

The frets are in very good condition with no pitting. The photos in the gallery show dents and scratches over the body & neck but this is from use, rather than abuse. There is an area at the 19th/20th fret where the lacquer has come away & I noted that the pickguard had discoloured in one area.

The backplate was also missing when it was for sale in Japan. Fortunately my Japanese friend Hiroaki was able to source me a used one out there which I have now fitted. I have given it a good clean & check over & when I gave it a quick set up, the intonation was spot on and the action was very good.
