Eric Clapton custom Stratocaster; Fender American Deluxe Strat body; Fender Eric Clapton neck; all Fender parts except for Supervee Bladerunner trem; gold hardware; brand new Fender case in Navy Blue. I started putting this Strat together a few years ago with the idea in mind that I wanted a Clapton Strat with changes to a few features that would bring it more in line with my personal preferences than the standard Clapton Strat models but that still retained the core elements of the standard Clapton Strat. I took so long in getting this particular guitar brought to a state of completion that by the time it was done I had moved on to other guitars, different neck profiles, different pickups, etc.
And, consequently, I've decided to let this go. The changes I made to the standard Clapton Strat were these. A good, useable, working trem instead of a blocked trem.
A battery box for easy access to the battery. A vintage tint for the neck; and. It was originally cherry sunburst and the weight, if I remember correctly, was somewhere in the 3 lb, 6 ounce range. I had the rout for the battery box placed below the trem cavity and the cavity for the circuit board was routed in the usual location for a Clapton Strat. The body was then completely stripped and refinished in a Mary Kay White (or White Blonde) by Pat Wilkins in Los Angeles, one of the best finish professionals in the U.The original frets were removed and replaced with 6100 jumbo stainless steel frets by Greg Hails at Aperio Guitar outside of Atlanta, an expert builder/tech/luthier who specializes in stainless steel refrets. A vintage tint was then applied to the neck, also by Pat Wilkins, to get away from the standard pale, untinted maple look of the standard production Clapton Strat. The trem unit is a Supervee Bladerunner which I've used in numerous builds with great success. It functions perfectly and eliminates all the problems associated with the standard vintage Fender Strat trem units. The pickups and electronics are the standard Clapton Fender vintage noiseless pickups with active mid boost and TBX tone circuits.
All the hardware is gold, the heavyweight trem claw is solid brass, and the trem springs are Raw Vintage springs in the now impossible-to-find gold version. The tuners are vintage style Fender. The case is a brand new Fender case in Navy Blue tolex with brown trim. Total weight on the guitar is 6 lbs, 14 ounces.
Every person who's touched this guitar has been a first-class luthier/builder/tech, so this is far from your average Partscaster... It's more like a Custom Shop-quality build.
