Here area few of the details. The guitar has an alder body with a black, mirror like gloss finish. It weighs in at 7.7 lbs. It has a smooth maple neck and fretboard which have a vintage, aged amber nitrocellulose finish. It has a classic C shape profile with a 9.5 radius and 21 medium jumbo frets.
The frets are crowned, polished and smoothly rolled over at the ends. It's a very comfortable neck to play. It's 2 way truss rod is adjusted at the heel and turns easily. It has a one ply, black, 11 hole pick guard.
Both the middle and the neck are Fender Custom Shop pickups. The neck is a Custom Shop Fat 50.
Fat 50's are designed to deliver a pure vintage stratocaster tone from the 1950s and early 60s. The guitar has the perfect combination of pickups needed to reproduce that iconic David Gilmour tone. The volume is controled by a 250K push pull pot installed with a treble bleed circuit to prevent tone changes when rolling down the volume. Although it's not a feature that was on Gilmour's original guitar the SSL-5 in the bridge is coil tap capable so it seemed worth it to wire the electronics for it. It's much brighter and cleaner sounding more like what you'd expect from a vintage stratocaster. It opens up a huge number of tone possibilities. Both tones are each controlled by high quality 250K CTS pots which are both wired to a large orange drop capacitor. Tone1 controls the bridge and Tone2 the middle and neck. This allows the ability to play with all 3 pickups at once or most importantly the combination of bridge + neck, a Gilmour favorite used in many of his epic guitar solos from the 1970s.
The output is equipped with a high quality Switchcraft audio jack. All the electronics are fully shielded with copper foil. It has a standard Fender big block tremolo bridge with stamped saddles and comes with a 4.25 shortened tremolo arm just like the one used by Gilmour.
It's also equipped with vintage-style, split shaft tuners with a 14:1 gear ratio. It has a single roller type spring tree and high quality mushroom head style strap buttons. It's strung with brand new Ernie Ball Slinky 9-42 guitar strings.
The guitar is fully set-up and has only been lightly played. It barely has a scratch and is in mint condition. Message me if you need more info.
